Saint-Etienne-du-Mont

 

St-Etienne-du-Mont contains the shrine of St. Genevieve's remains, the patron saint of Paris. Genevieve protected Paris from the barbarians and was buried in an early church located on this area in 512. The current reliquary contains only a few fingers and bones.

The American Church in Paris

The American Church in Paris is the first American church established on foreign soil. Begun in 1814, it was officially chartered and the first sanctuary built in 1857. The present facilities on the quai d'Orsay date from 1930.

This is the oldest, private, American institution established overseas.
